Review:
*****5 Stars*****
The twists from book 1 have nothing on book 2. Holy mother this story is twisted and you will not expect the turns to continue. This story picks up from where it left off in book 1. You may want to go back and read last few chapters to jiggle your memory because I had to stop and think in a few spots because once Nikki throws you a bone, you'll need to catch the other bone quick to get the full effect of the twists.
Shae and Nick still have the past they must hurdle over along with the present and the future. They both show that they are still stubborn as ever and both will do anything for each other including risking their lives for the other person. Shae and Nick receive the best news ever until horrible Evan manages to create havoc in their world. The best is that it twisted again and Evan ends up being the one screwed to a point since he's lucky he's still alive thanks to Shae cause he'd be six feet under if it was up to Nick.
The story continues and you will have to wait for more Wine & Whiskey, but while you’re waiting go visit an Island or enjoy a chocolate festival. This ending is not as traumatic as in the first book so go enjoy some Wine & Whiskey until book 3 is available.

Review of Wine & Whiskey by Nikki Belaire

Title: Wine & Whiskey
Author: Nikki Belaire
Series: Surviving Absolution
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 7, 2015

No longer controlled by her mother, manager, or former fiancĂ©, pop star Shae Armstrong steps out on her own and into the path of Nick DeMarco, a wealthy investor with alleged ties to organized crime and real childhood scars to overcome. She wants to take it slow. He needs her now, in his life and in his bed.

Nick’s enemies threaten her career, her friendships, even her sanity, but not her heart - the one thing Nick holds precious. He proves his love is real, and she stops running. Until everything around them falls apart, including him. He swore he would never hurt her. Instead, he almost destroys them both.

Buoyed by her new-found confidence and strength his love instills in her, Shae makes a dangerous choice, sacrificing her happiness for his, just like he always does for her. Unable to let her break the connection between them, Nick accepts the trust she places in him, the depth of her love giving him the courage to try again.

Now that she’s found her own voice and helped him see who he really is, can Shae survive the challenges of living in Nick’s world?

After putting the last pan in the drying rack, he walks over to her, creating ripples of anticipation in her chest. “So, does that mean you’re going to let me in your life a little?”

She nods and slowly parts her knees so he can move closer. Sliding his hands around her lower back, he pulls her to him, eliminating all the space between them. Her pulse races as she straddles him, her dress bunched around her hips. Swirling sensations overwhelm her—the coolness of the countertop penetrating through her thin, cotton panties, the rough denim of his jeans on her thighs, his strong hands radiating warmth on her back.

Lifting her hand, she traces the outline of his face with her fingertip. His eyes burn into hers as she glides from his temple, down his strong jaw, and across his dimpled chin, resting on his lips. Whispering her name against her finger, he stiffens when she rubs back and forth. He leans forward and kisses her hungrily, moaning as she parts her lips, welcoming his tongue, fueling the fire he flames in her. Her body trembles with the need for his hands to touch her bare skin, to know she wants everything he craves from her. He fists her hair, his lips gliding to her ear. “Stay with me tonight.”

A shiver shudders through her body at his whisper. She wants to say yes so badly. “I can’t.”

Amazing read!
Wine and Whiskey is equal to the angel and devil.
Shae being the angel and Nick being the devil.

She's a famous singer/actress who is forced to live the life under Team Shae's expectations not what Shae wants out of life.

Nick is forced to live up to his past and a life he doesn't wish to live until he meets Shae. He's forced to live in the mob world and will do anything to protect Shae.

There is so much heartbreak and suspense in this book. Just when you think it can't get any worse for them there's another twist.
Keeps you on your toes and wishing you didn't have to wait for book 2 to find out what happens. So yes, there's a CLIFFY!!

Nikki writes contemporary romantic thrillers and admits to a weakness for alpha males and bad boys, especially ones who can’t live without the strong women they love. She spends more time in her characters’ lives than her own. But, when she’s in the real world, her passions include reading, wine appreciating, running, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

The first book of Nikki’s Surviving Absolution series is Wine & Whiskey, which launches in April 2015 through Secret Cravings Publishing. Heat level: three flames.
